SiteShoter

. 11/25/2008

SiteShoter (sic) is a fairly specialized program. OK, it's very specialized. SiteShoter takes screenshots of Web pages. You enter an URL--or a pointer to a list of URLs--and Site Shoter loads an invisible Explorer window and capture the screen shot, saving it as an image file.
The program is not entirely intuitive. It took me a second to realize I needed to provide an image save name before snapping a picture--otherwise, your screenshot vanishes into hyperspace. The 'Help' file is more of an extended ReadMe. Nonetheless, it does what it is advertised to do.
Who can use SiteShoter? Well, it's free, while many other screen capture programs are not--so if all you need to capture are Web pages, it fills the bill. It also will scroll a Web page to capture all of it, not just the visible portion. The ability to feed a list of URLs into it could be useful for capturing a large set of pages--to create, say, a visual archive of pages on a corporate site.
